☆ Three haikus: Wildfires, wild birds, wild noises

Just like that, it's fall. Fog-sky lingers past noon, school traffic wakes us in the morning, whiffs of smoke waft from fires somewhere. Peter Coe Verbica checks in with three haiku for the season in this Opp Now exclusive.

I.

Eating in forest,
Fire’s red mouth crunches tree-bones.
A monk’s hut, dinner.

II.

White tufts in the sky,
Below, a shout of feathers
And crow’s eye clouding.

III.

Crows on a phone line,
Vibrations under their feet.
Young and old squawking!
