High tech leaders go wobbly on free markets

"Silicon Valley has gone wussy on us--wait, can I even say "wussy" anymore? Everyone is caving like an overcooked souffle. Mr. Zuckerberg says the era of self-regulation is over. Apple's Tim Cook, who practically invented the global supply chain, met with President Trump to beg him to lift tariffs--from Apple, but not everyone else.

"Amazon has surrendered on multiple fronts, raising its minimum wage to $15 to quell claims it paid 'starvation wages' and committing to carbon neutrality by 2040 despite knowing full well that the real problem is Chinese coal plants, which power the factories that make the products Amazon ships.

"What happened? Silicon Valley suffers from a classic case of Stockholm syndrome: Its leaders have developed sympathy for their government and social justice captors."
